The new Roderick Elementary School for Community ISD will be located in Josephine, Texas. This two story design will serve up to 750 students in grades PK-5. Key concepts incorporated into the design include highly flexible learning pods, increased security and safety, special attention to traffic control measures, future expandability, access to natural daylight from all learning spaces, and an easy to navigate layout.

Each grade level has access to a dedicated flex space for collaborative learning or small group gatherings. The media center / library space is centrally located and designed to accommodate a wide range of activities. The new cafeteria is an open, light filled space, featuring a stage, and provides expanded views to the courtyard and playground. The dual-purpose gymnasium will serve the entire student and staff populations as a storm shelter.

Providing quality outdoor learning and physical activity space was also at the forefront of this design. The courtyard serves as a centrally unifying and flexible space, for students and teachers alike.
