The 24,850 SF addition to Caldwell Elementary School relocated the building's main entrance to enable better traffic circulation to the campus from the surrounding neighborhood streets, and to alleviate congestion on the major thoroughfare bounding one side of the site. A new administration office suite adjoins the new entrance lobby. The instructional portion of the new construction comprises a new 4-room kindergarten wing, library, double computer lab, music room, and three special education classrooms including a life skills suite. The limited scope of renovation converted the original administration offices into a set of badly needed student restrooms and a book room. The project also involved a significant amount of pavement construction, as the original project had no off-street parking, fire lanes, or student drop-off lanes.
