WRA Designed Mesquite ISD Range Elementary Construction Updates

Construction of Mesquite ISD’s replacement for Range Elementary is currently underway. Since 1963, the current school has been called home to thousands of Mesquite students and teachers.  The new building’s steel erection is nearing 50% completion, lacking the steel framing on the two-story classroom wing, scheduled for completion in early December. Steel decking and concrete floors are following close behind the steel framing schedule, as well as the installation of a fire lane that will wrap around the school and continue along the existing storm drain the channel to the south.
A school and city park property swap was pursued to help with the construction of the new school, to eliminate the relocation of nearly 900 students during the building phase. The existing Range elementary Structure, and associated portables, will remain in place until the summer of 2016 when the new school is substantially complete and furniture moved.
Once demolished, the city park side of the site will be developed and will include a baseball field, lighted basketball courts and a hike/bike trail that encircles the entire property.
WRA is excited to partner with Mesquite Independent School District once again, to provide much needed upgrades and increased school capacity at Range Elementary School.
