WRA Architects is proud to announce the opening of Dr. Linda Henrie Elementary School, the largest Elementary School in Mesquite Independent School District.
The campus boasts 50 standard classrooms, in addition to an assortment of special use rooms, allowing for a maximum capacity of 1000 students. Some of our favorite features include the learning courtyard, located between the classroom wings for exterior teaching spaces, and a community walking trail. The two-story school design, solar orientation and HVAC geothermal system with energy monitoring add for a significant decrease in energy consumption. Additional sustainable features to the school, include, natural day-lighting in the majority of learning spaces and a highly reflective "cool" roof to reduce the heat island effect. Rainwater retention ponds were included in the design to control runoff from flooding in nearby areas during a significant rain event & allow for reduced reliance on outside water sources for irrigation.
WRA Architects is excited for the children, teachers, and parents of Mesquite’s Henrie Elementary to enjoy this advanced 21st century learning facility.
