Mesquite Memorial Stadium
Mesquite, TX
Fall 2015
Mesquite's Memorial Stadium was built in 1976, and after 40 years of operation with minimal improvements, was in need of significant updating. The stadium has seating for 20,000 spectators, making it one of the largest high school football stadiums in Texas, and is utilized by Mesquite's five area high schools for football, soccer and band competitions. The goals of the additions and renovations were: to enhance the appearance of the facility; to bring it up to current building, accessibility and energy codes; to provide increased security by separating performing students from the spectators throughout the venue; to create student parking and equipment loading zones at north end zone at the field level; to provide on-site circulation for buses and trucks and eliminate having to back out onto Scyene Road; to enlarge the concourse areas; to improve spectator access to restrooms and concessions; to provide views from the concourse to the field; to expand the concessions facilities to provide badly needed space for queuing, cooking and serving lines; to expand and renovate team locker rooms, relocating them to the field level; and finally, to construct a new, enlarged pressbox, with elevator access and spaces designed to meet Texas 5A and 6A high school football game requirements.
