Career Institute North

Dallas, TX

Fall 2023

The original Walnut Hill Elementary on Midway Road in Dallas sustained major tornado damage in October 2019, rendering the entire building unusable. The project converted the existing 55,000 SF elementary school into a career institute for students in grades 9 through 12.

The scope included selective demolition, a complete renovation of the building, and 110,000 square feet of new construction. The institute now prepares students for careers in aviation, automotive technology, EMT, firefighting, culinary arts, robotics, facilities maintenance, healthcare, dental assisting, mechatronics, cybersecurity, software development, building construction, carpentry, welding, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and architecture and interior design. The facility operates as a satellite campus, serving 1,600 students from five high schools each day.
