Castleberry Middle School Auditorium
Crandall, TX
Fall 2022
This middle school's 1955 auditorium has long been the District's primary large meeting space and was in need of comprehensive modernization. The project included completely upgrading the facility into a modern performing arts venue with all new seating for 600, a cross aisle, and making the facility handicap accessible. Other features included enlarging the public restrooms, enlarging the stage (previously the school's entire band could not fit on the old stage), adding dressing rooms and restrooms backstage, adding a new control booth, sound/projection equipment, curtains, rigging, lighting, ceiling and wall coffers to improve acoustics, and replacing old noisy AC equipment. The newly renovated facility retains its flexibility for use by other District and community functions. Energy savings included closing up old inefficient windows and adding energy efficient light fixtures, motion sensors to reduce electricity, and high-efficiency HVAC.
