Oneta Ridge Middle School
Broken Arrow, OK
2013
A central theme of this school is "transition." The transition from primary to secondary school, the transition from dependence to self-reliance, and the transition from a neighborhood building to a more civic building. The front of the building, housing the larger extra curricular spaces such as music, drama, and physical education, is larger in scale and presents a more civic face to the community. The back section of the building, housing the standard classrooms, is a more intimate scale and more conducive to academic study. The cafeteria and gymnasium are located near the faculty parking lot at the east end of the building which is designed as a convenient entrance for after-hours events.
