David Belt, a Mesquite High School graduate who has served as the Mesquite Education Foundation board president since its inception in 2004, will be the namesake of the new Professional Development Center wing of MISD’s Administration Building. The announcement came as a complete surprise to Mr. Belt: “Thank you, Board. I’m delighted,” he said, noting his parents and in-laws were also long-time MISD supporters. "What an incredible honor."

K. David Belt Professional Development Center, is a 52,428 SF addition. The two-story addition includes:

• Learning spaces for our ETIP (Excellence in Teaching Incentive Program) students

• Learning spaces for Texas A&M Commerce students

• New Board Room for monthly meetings of Trustees 

• New catering kitchen 

• Versatile meeting room area that can transform from one room into a total of six rooms
